October School Holiday Programme

There’s lots to enjoy at Kiwi North this school holiday!

Starting with a call out to all young nature enthusiasts aged 5 to 17! Join us at Kiwi North for a series of FREE exciting ecological activities this school holiday, tailored just for you! Each activity is limited to 15 participants, so be sure to reserve your spot early.

We also have a series of cool post-holiday, Saturday activities and November events!

Track & Trap! 1 October 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm

Get hands-on with tracking tunnels, chew cards, and possum trap maintenance. Be a part of building a rodent control grid across Kiwi North’s site. Discover pest species firsthand as we unveil results live! There will also be two trapping days on the 26 October and 23 November 12pm-2pm.

Wild Edibles Walk! 3 October 10am-12pm and 1pm-2pm and 9 October 12pm-2pm

Embark on a forest stroll and learn about native edible plants. Gain valuable insights into the rich biodiversity of our surroundings.

Bug Safari! 5 October 12pm-2pm and 8 October 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm

Dive into the world of invertebrates! Discover the hidden treasures of our ecosystem and help catalogue them for future workshops.

Pitfall Pioneers! 10 October 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm and 2 November 12pm-2pm

Explore the mini-world beneath our feet! Help collect and identify species captured in pitfall traps right here on-site.

Lizard Watch! 12 October 12pm-2pm

Join our lizard monitoring mission and record vital data while exploring Kiwi North's forested areas.

Bird Bonanza! 19 October 12pm-2pm

Become a birdwatcher for the day! Conduct 5-minute bird counts and contribute to valuable data collection.

Drawing our Collection

Join us for an exciting hands-on experience where you can create your own Museum sketchbook by diving into a series of dynamic drawing exercises using our Museum treasures!

Or you can pop in anytime over the school holidays and draw from our unique still-life collection of objects!

When: 10:00am-12:30pm Wednesday 2 October and Friday 4 October

Who: Open to all ages

Mini-Printing – Print Your Own Creature!

Come along and have fun making your own min-print creatures! Choose from our ready-made printing plates or create your own!
